1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account, purchasing a plan, or otherwise using I Hate Writing Reviews, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not access or use our service. Changes to these Terms are handled as described in Section 14.

2. Description of Service

I Hate Writing Reviews is a productivity tool designed to help you prepare for performance reviews. Our service provides:

• Evidence Logging: Track and log your work accomplishments throughout the year
• Goal Management: Create and manage performance goals to organize your achievements
• Service Integrations: Connect external services (email, calendar, project management tools) to automatically import work-related activities
• AI-Powered Reviews: Generate draft performance reviews using artificial intelligence based on your logged evidence
• Data Export: Export your evidence and generated reviews for use outside our platform

3. Eligibility and User Accounts

Age. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or purchase a plan. By using the service you represent that you are 18 or older and able to enter into a binding contract.

To use our service, you must create an account. When you create an account, you agree to:

• Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration
• Maintain the security and confidentiality of your password
• Not share your account credentials with any third party
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access to your account
• Accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account

You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and password. We cannot and will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to protect your account credentials.

4. Connected Accounts and Third-Party Data

The service lets you connect accounts on external services (such as email, calendar, chat, code hosting and project management tools) so that we can import work activity on your behalf. Those accounts often contain information about other people and may belong to, or be governed by, your employer or another organisation. By connecting an account you represent and warrant that:

• you are authorised to connect that account to IHWR and to grant us the access you grant, including under any policy of your employer or the organisation that owns the account;
• you have the right, under applicable law and any contract or policy that binds you, to process the data in that account for the purpose of documenting your own work, including any personal data about colleagues, customers or other third parties it contains;
• your use complies with the terms of service of the connected service; and
• you will disconnect any account and delete any imported data that you cease to be authorised to use.

Indemnity. You will defend, indemnify and hold harmless IHWR and its owners, officers, employees and agents from and against any claim, demand, loss, liability, damage, penalty, cost or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to a breach of the warranties in this Section, your connection of an account you were not authorised to connect, or your processing of third-party data through the service in violation of law, contract or policy.

Our Privacy Policy explains what we import from each service, how we use it and how a third party can object.

5. Subscriptions, Payment and Automatic Renewal

Access to the application requires a paid plan. By purchasing a plan you agree to the following:

• Fees: You agree to pay the fees for your plan as displayed at the time of purchase, plus any applicable taxes.
• Payment processing: All payments are processed securely through Stripe. We do not store your full payment card information.
• Lifetime plan: The Lifetime plan is a one-time payment of $249.99 that does not renew. It grants access to the service for as long as we operate it, subject to these Terms.

Automatic renewal of annual plans

The annual plans renew automatically. Please read this section carefully; by purchasing an annual plan you agree to it.

• Renewal term and price: Each annual plan has a term of twelve (12) months. At the end of each term it renews automatically for another twelve (12) months, and the payment method on file with Stripe is charged the then-current annual price for your plan. The current annual prices are Basic $24.99 per year and Premium $59.99 per year. The price you will be charged is shown at checkout and in your subscription settings.
• Renews until cancelled: Your plan will keep renewing every twelve months until you cancel it.
• How to cancel: Cancel at any time from Settings → Subscription, or by emailing support@ihatewritingreviews.com from the email address on your account. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current term; you keep access until then and are not charged again. Cancelling is as easy as signing up and requires no phone call.
• Reminders before renewal: We will send a reminder to the email address on your billing record before each annual renewal, stating the renewal date, the amount that will be charged and how to cancel.
• Price changes: If the price of your plan changes, the new price applies only from your next renewal, and we will tell you before it takes effect by posting a notice on our website and by email where we hold a verified address, so that you can cancel first if you wish.
• Failed payments: If a renewal charge fails, Stripe will retry it. If it cannot be collected, your plan will lapse and access to paid features will end until payment is made.

6. Refund Policy

We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on your first purchase, subject to the eligibility conditions in our Refund Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree to use our service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:

• Use the service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws or regulations
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the service, other user accounts, or any systems or networks connected to the service
• Interfere with or disrupt the service or servers and networks connected to the service
• Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information to the service
• Use automated tools, bots, scrapers, or other automated means to access or interact with the service without our express written permission
• Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to discover the source code or underlying algorithms of the service
• Transmit any viruses, malware, or other harmful code through the service

8. Your Content

You retain full ownership of all content you submit to I Hate Writing Reviews, including your evidence entries, goals, and any other materials ("Your Content").

By using our service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to process, store, and display Your Content solely for the purpose of providing our services to you. This includes:

• Storing your evidence and goals in our database
• Processing Your Content through our AI systems to generate review drafts and suggestions
• Displaying Your Content back to you within the service

We will never use Your Content for advertising, share it with third parties for their own purposes, or use it to train AI models.

9. AI-Generated Content

Our service uses artificial intelligence to help generate performance review drafts and provide suggestions. You understand and agree that:

• Not Perfect: AI-generated content is provided as a starting point and may not be perfect or complete. The AI may make mistakes, misinterpret context, or produce inappropriate suggestions
• Your Responsibility: You are solely responsible for reviewing, editing, and verifying any AI-generated content before using it. You should never submit AI-generated content without first reviewing it for accuracy and appropriateness
• May Be Inaccurate: AI-generated content may contain factual inaccuracies, misrepresentations, or statements that do not accurately reflect your work or accomplishments. We do not guarantee the accuracy, quality, or suitability of any AI-generated content
• No Liability: We are not responsible for any consequences arising from your use of AI-generated content, including any professional, employment, or reputational impacts

10. Intellectual Property

The I Hate Writing Reviews service, including its original content, features, functionality, design, and underlying technology, is owned by I Hate Writing Reviews and is protected by international copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property laws.

Our trademarks, service marks, and logos may not be used in connection with any product or service without our prior written consent. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use our intellectual property except as expressly permitted.

11. Limitation of Liability

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR AVAILABILITY.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL I HATE WRITING REVIEWS, ITS AFFILIATES, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

12. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the service at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice. Reasons for termination may include, but are not limited to:

• Violation of these Terms of Service
• Engaging in fraudulent or illegal activity
• Non-payment of applicable fees
• Request by law enforcement or other government agencies
• Discontinuation or material modification of the service

You may terminate your account at any time through your account settings. Upon termination, your right to use the service will immediately cease, and we will delete your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of [STATE], United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising out of these Terms or the service will be brought in the state or federal courts located in [STATE], and you consent to their jurisdiction, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction. Nothing in this Section deprives you of mandatory consumer protections of the place where you live.

14. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms. The version and date at the top tell you which edition applies. If we make material changes, we will post a notice on our website and email you where we hold a verified address, before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the service after the effective date means the updated Terms apply to you. If you do not agree to the new Terms, you must stop using the service and may cancel under Section 5.
